Tintoretto Exhibition In Jeopardy Because Of Shutdown
One of the most anticipated exhibitions of the year may be in jeopardy because of the prolonged government shutdown.
The exhibition of 16th-century Italian master Tintoretto is set to open March 10th at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.
The problem is that preparations for the exhibit are way behind because of the shutdown, since Smithsonian museums are supported by federal dollars.
In fact, three exhibitions at Smithsonian museums have already been postponed because of the shutdown.
Museum workers have not been able to prepare the exhibition space set for Tintoretto.
The exhibition which would be the first on the American continent and celebrate the 500th anniversary of Tintoretto’s birth is being received in Washington D.C., but has not been installed as the galleries must be painted and display cases and other design elements installed.
Preparations are now weeks behind schedule.
