Flash November 22 (F. & S. II.39)
Andy Warhol
1968
Screenprint
21 x 21 inches (54 x 54cm)
Signed by Andy Warhol’s, Flash-November 22 (F. & S. II.39) from his Flash-November 22, 1963series (1968) shows an image of the building from which President Kennedy was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald with an arrow ominously pointing to the exact window from where the shot was taken. This print is the only one in the series that only features one image, instead of layering multiple. The print’s title stems from the phrase ‘news-flash’, alluding to a piece of highly important news in the mass-media. Warhol returned again and again to the events of Kennedy’s assassination in 1963 and its related images, notably his Jackie Kennedy prints (1965), with this portfolio being his last iteration of the subject.
