Andy Warhol’s Life Exposed In Unseen Images
130,000 Unseen Photos of Andy Warhol Will Be Made Public.
The Andy Warhol Foundation is launching their new initiative, The Contact Warhol Project, by releasing over 130,000 previously unseen images from the late pop art icon that were acquired by Stanford University.
The images go all the way back to 1976 and portray the private life of Andy Warhol that includes previously unseen glimpses of his lovers and celebrity gang of like minds which included Jean-Michel Basquiat, Michael Jackson and John Lennon, to name a few.
“The pictures showcase Warhol’s obsession with documenting everything around him, from parties with famous friends to street sign,” reports artnet news.
Some of the photos from the exhibit will be included in an upcoming exhibit at Stanford University’s Cantor Arts Center this September. Additionally, a book featuring the project will be unveiled in the U.K. this November. The digital archive will be made public by the end of the year.
